Entering the Hastings Street Opera. As the Detroit Count said, "Anything can happen
on Hastings Street."

In the mid 1950's Joe Von Battle, whose record store we will soon be visiting,
recorded Robert White, better know locally as the Detroit Count.
The tunes were especially memorable because they described a walk down Hastings
Street from Hendrie to the Verner Highway, (where the east to west I 75 now lays). As we
perform this walk ourselves, we will use the
"Hastings Street Opera"
as our travelogue.
